Alot of christian findamentalists do not believe in carbon dating because they have been conditioned to translate the book of genesis literally and think that the earth is only about 6000 years old. Carbon dating puts the earth at about 4.5 billion years old. This completely shatters the view of these christian fundamentalists but we should understand that the book of genesis was never meant to be translated literally but only conceptionally.
