Las Vegas!
« on: 02/13/1010:18PM »
I'm getting ready for a short trip to Las Vegas.  I can't wait for the shopping, gambling, food, shows....  I haven't gone in a couple of years and am excited to see all the changes.  Any Vegas fans?  What are your favorite things to do and see?

I don't gamble but I would love to go to see the shows and shop.  There is a lot more to Las Vegas than just the gambling now and that makes for a wonderful place to go on a vacation.

I have never had a desire to go to Las Vegas. The shows would be pretty cool but at those prices I can do without them. I don't gamble, never had the interest. The only thing that interests me out there is the landscapes beyond the city.

My guy is actually going with a friend of ours in April for his birthday. I haven't been there in ages and I'm SO jealous! He can have his "boys trip," though; I'll have my "girls' trip" there later!

I love going to Vegas, but I haven't been there for over a decade. I was impressed that I saw Sam Butera's act for free in the lounge of the Tropicana, where I was staying.

Just a few weeks before, I saw his appearance on Late Night With David Letterman.  8)

My stepdaughter goes frequently. She goes to conferences in Vegas for to her business in Alaska and always hits the shows while she is there. She told me that they give you free food and drink to encourage you to stay and gamble. I'm tempted but it's a long flight from the UK!

I've heard that the people who spend a lot of money get comped free suites, food, shows, etc. When I was there, I was even being served free cocktails while playing nickel and dime slots in the downtown area.  ;)

I saw the band Chicago at Caesar's Palace. It's one of my favourite concert memories.

I have never been to Vegas but it's on my list of places to visit before I die!  :D I live on the East Coast and have never even been to Atlantic City!

I've been to Vegas and the strip reeks of...never mind.  The lights are pretty and the shops are great.  But when you combine alcohol, smoke and other stuff, it smells bad.

Yep, if you join their players club they'll track your play and give you all kinds of deals.  I can actually earn points at the casino close to home here in Chicago.  This past trip, I actually stayed for free, got some cash to play, and treated my friend to a free buffet.  They definitely make it tempting to go back.

What do you have to do to join the Player's Club? Just simply spend a lot of money?

I have never been to Las Vegas, but I would love to go. I am tired of hearing my mom's wonderful stories. I need to see for myself.

Joining player clubs is free and many times they'll give you something just for joining.  There are usually different levels of membership and with the higher levels you get better perks.  Then all you have to do is gamble and they rate your play.  The more you play, win or lose, the more points you get, and the more "comps" you will see.

I think Las Vegas is one of those places that you have to visit at least once in your lifetime, now to save up for a ticket to pay a visit. :)
